Advocating For Legislative Change
Over 2.5 million British Columbians (that's over half of the BC population!) are people with pets.
"Legislative change is crucial for protecting pets and animals in British Columbia. The BC SPGA is at the forefront of this important advocacy work, pushing for reforms that will improve the lives of animals across the province."
We rely on the results of surveys that we provide to BC animal guardians and pet owners. We listen to our membership who are the driving force for change and better lives for the animals that we hold so dear.
We advocate that animals who are legally considered "property" be recognized as sentient beings and beloved family members. In this way, guardian and animal rights have a stronger presence in society.
Likewise members, volunteers and the public participate in email campaigns, surveys, online petitions and demonstrations to make our Voice heard.
BC SPGA campaigns include the proposed BC Pet Bonus and Pet Tax Credit to the provincial government, the desperate need for effective animal enforcement policing and ending pet discrimation with pet-friendly rental tenancies in the province.
I want to help the BC SPGA to promote our interests.
By supporting the BC SPGA's legislative initiatives, you can help shape a better future for people with pets and animals in British Columbia. Together, we can create lasting change.
