BC SPGA's new donor program puts you in the driver's seat
Jill M. was the special Godmother that decided to help Ralph and Nutter
A fairy godmother donor steps up to help
Ralph and Nutter are forever grateful.
It was a scary day for Ralph when Nutter went into a sudden spasm. Ralph rushed his dog to the vet clinic nearby only to learn that he couldn't afford the treatment and ongoing medication Nutter's condition needed.
In a panic, Ralph reached out to the BC SPGA People with pets in hardship community program and a volunteer stepped up to help Ralph keep Nutter by helping with a portion of the expenses.
Ralph contacted us back and told us that the donor, Jill M., was a "Fairy Godmother" in his eyes! And that is how the Fairy Godmother and Godfather donor program came to be.
Back with Kaila, her cats are happy again.
Kaila almost lost her family
The loss of a family member almost resulted in Kaila loosing her cats
Kaila had recently travelled to B.C. in search of employment when she found out that her beloved granny had passed. She was told that the two cats in the household would be sent to a shelter.
Kaila became desperate as she contacted our society. She had raised the cats as kittens and couldn't bear to loose them. Yet she could not afford the transportation costs to bring them to her home here.
A special donor came forward and offered to help with the transport expenses. Kaila later told us, "I don't know exactly who he is but he arrived with the BC SPGA volunteer and my cats. He had paid their airfare and helped with bringing them to me. I hugged him so hard I may have broken some ribs when my babies arrived!"
Jeff and Bella celebrate daily life together.
A fairy godmother donor steps up to help
Jeff is with his one and only again
"It sounds weird but Bella is all I have." Jeff told us. "She's my love and my companion all rolled into one. She knows how to make me laugh when I feel lonely." Jeff almost couldn't keep Bella because she had to be spayed to live with him in the room he rents. "The landlord didn't want any babies and that was the condition. I contacted the BC SPCA and just couldn't afford the spay on my tiny income."
BC SPGA contacted our list of special donors - those we refer to as Godmother and Godfather donors - with the circumstances Jeff described. A special Godmother donor stepped forward - a veterinarian! Jeff brought Bella to the clinic and she soon went home again. "I can't thank the veterinarian enough, she is the kindest person ever and took such good care of Bella. Thanks to your volunteers and your amazing help for us all."
Become a Godmother or Godfather donor
Direct Your Giving. Deliver Hope. Change Lives.
Under the BC SPGA People with pets in hardship community program we have started the
Fairies donors - a special donor who has control of who to help and how to help.
How It Works
Pet guardians often contact our BC SPGA People with pets in hardship community program in dire straits. Our society, comprised of volunteers, do not have the financial or other resources for the huge demand.
As a special Fairy Godmother or Godfather donor you receive emails about the pet guardians circumstances. You are in control. Direct Your Giving. Deliver Hope. Change Lives. There is no obligation. Every situation is unique. (Even if you live out of province, you are welcome to join.)
How do I become a Fairy Godmother or Godfather special donor?
That's easy - email us - with your name* , email address* and a request to join the special Donors email list. We will send you emails for your consideration.
* Your information is kept private unless you request otherwise.
